Dr. Shao-Liang Zheng Named Harvard Hero

Director of the CCB X-Ray laboratory and teacher of Chem 255, Dr. Shao-Liang Zheng, has been selected as one of this year's 13 Harvard Heroes from FAS, announced on April 23rd by Dean Leslie Kirwan. He and the other Harvard Heroes across the University will be honored at a reception in Sanders Theater on June 12th. Among Shao's many contributions to the teaching and research mission of CCB since he joined the department in 2009 are the frequent trips he organizes to the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Lab, including last year's field trip for students in Chem 255, and the training of well over 100 researchers in the art of using the various X-ray diffractometers, all this on top of the superb guidance he provides to CCB faculty and outside users of the instruments. CCB director Allen Aloise remarks, "Thanks to Shao, Harvard now possesses an X-Ray Facility that is on its way to providing the best crystallographic services in the Northeastern US. We are very fortunate to have Shao as a teacher, colleague, and friend!"
