This section contains information on graduate student requirements and an overview of the academic experience in the Chemistry and Chemical Physics degree programs. Continuation in these degree programs requires the following:
- Satisfactory completion of required coursework. Learn more about course requirements.
- Successful presentation and defense of an independent research proposal in accordance with policy set by the Graduate Advising Committee (GAC). Learn more about the GAC process.
- Admission to a research group by June 30th of the first year. Learn more about the group joining process. Graduate students may join research groups within CCB or other Harvard departments.
- Satisfactory progress in 300-level research courses. Graduate students are graded on their research in a lab through the 300-level research course of their advisors.
