Professor Naoya Kumagai, Institute of Microbial Chemistry, Tokyo, Japan. "Chemistry Empowered by Unique Heterocycles." Merck-Banyu Lectureship Award. Abstract: Identification of new molecular entities opens a new avenue in chemistry on a broad basis. This talk introduces the development of unique heterocyclic compounds and architectures that are responsible for specific functions in catalysis and peculiar properties as materials.
