Schedule:

10:30 a.m. Virtual countdown program to Honoring the Harvard Class of 2020.

11:00 a.m. Honoring the Harvard Class of 2020 virtual program begins. The President, Provost, Deans and other distinguished guests will perform the ceremonial conferral of degrees and other elements.

12:30 p.m.  Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Graduation Recognition Ceremony. Dean Emma Dench will join student representatives in providing remarks, names of participating graduates will be read, and submitted photo displayed and grouped by program.

Participation

Students who are graduating with a PhD or a terminal master's or received those degrees in the November 2019 or March 2020 degree periods are invited to participate in the Graduation Recognition Ceremony. If you are a graduating student, please register your participation in advance and by May 15. Students receiving an AB/AM or AB/SM should plan to participate in the University-wide Honoring the Harvard Class of 2020 virtual ceremony and degree related activities with their undergraduate houses. All degree recipients, including master's in passing, en route to the PhD, are welcome to join the University-wide virtual ceremony where their degree will be conferred. Individual recognition for those students will be made at the completion of the PhD. All November 2019, March and May 2020 degree recipients will be invited to participate in the postponed Commencement celebrations.

Ceremonies & Broadcast

The Harvard University Honoring the Harvard Class of 2020 virtual ceremony will be broadcast on Harvard.edu on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. EDT (-4 GMT) and rebroadcast at 12:00 a.m. EDT, and available the following day. More details available on the virtual University-wide graduation program website. The GSAS Graduation Recognition Ceremony will be broadcast at 12:30 p.m. EDT on gsas.harvard.edu. It will also be available to stream after the ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m. EDT. In addition, we have encouraged departments and degree programs to organize watch parties and virtual celebrations for their community to further mark this festive occasion. Please be in touch with your department to learn more about or help develop surrounding activities. We continue to explore creative ways to honor our graduates in addition to the Graduation Recognition Ceremony and invite you to share any ideas you may have with us at gsaa@fas.harvard.edu. 

Diplomas

Diplomas will be mailed following conferral if a diploma mailing address is added in my.harvard. The address can be edited as many times as needed until the deadline. Please find additional information and instructions for including a diploma mailing address on the FAS Registrar website. The deadline to add a diploma mailing address is May 15, 2020 for November and March graduates, and May 27 for May graduates. Visit the FAS Registrar site for additional details on adding a diploma mailing address or updating your diploma name.
