Two CCB faculty awarded Merck Fellowships

August 24, 2018
Assistant Professor Brian Liau

Brian Liau and Christina Woo are recipients of the 2019 George W. Merck Fellowship

The two assistant professors of chemistry and chemical biology have each been awarded a two-year research fellowship from the Merck Foundation.

Established in 1987, The George W. Merck Fund supports the work of two Harvard fellows: one from the department of chemistry and chemical biology (CCB), and one from MCB. This year, CCB earned two.

The Fund serves to bring together faculty and graduate students from both departments in order to spark dialogue, spotlight connections between research goals and processes, and create a collaborative and dynamic environment.

For the annual award competition, faculty select nominees based on the innovation and impact of their research, and their potential for greater achievement. Jeremy Bloxham, dean of science at Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences selects the winners.

Congratulations to this year's awardees, Brian Liau and Christina Woo. Learn more about their current research directions, budding graduate students, and other notable recognitions on their lab websites.
