Liuchuan Tong, a graduate student in the Gordon Lab, was one of eight students selected to participate in the prestigious Harvard Horizons Scholar program. Among other accomplishments, Liuchuan earned recognition for developing aqueous, soluble, organic molecules for flow batteries, which provide vital storage for renewable, intermittent energy like solar and wind.

The Horizon Scholars represent the extraordinary researchers who make up Harvard's Ph.D. community. This year's cohort investigates topics from human migration to quantum computing. As Horizon Scholars, the students receive "in-depth mentoring on the art of effective presentation, preparing them for a campus-wide symposium on April 11, 2018, at 4:30pm in Sanders Theatre."
