Alessandra Canta, a joint Chemistry and Astrophysics concentrator with a secondary field in MCB, has won the Captain Jonathan Fay Prize. Gregg Tucci, Director of Undergraduate Studies, recently shared this incredible news with the Department citing that this is the first time a Chemistry concentrator has won in more than thirty years.

Her thesis, “Unlocking the Key to Life: Observation and Formation of Nitriles in Protoplanetary Disks,” won three prizes this spring: the  Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Leo Goldberg Prize in Astronomy and the Captain Jonathan Fay Prize. "Hoopes Prize recipients are recognized for their exceptional undergraduate projects. The work of the Fay Prize winners are drawn from this group and are, in the opinion of a selection committee made up of senior Harvard Faculty members, the most outstanding imaginative works or pieces of original research in any field." Congratulations, Alessandra! Full story here.
