We encourage applications from graduate students and post-doctoral associates who are interested in pursuing a career in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, as well as early career chemists working in this field. The focus of this meeting is on building an understanding of foundational principles and strategies that can be applied by medicinal chemists in the pursuit of novel drugs. New concepts and technologies will be presented with examples of successful application to lead generation, optimization, and drug discovery. This seminar is organized in a workshop format, allowing for close interaction between practicing medicinal chemists and participants. Interactive sessions will query participants knowledge of learned concepts and allow them to share their work in poster format. Experienced faculty presenters and mentors from industry and academia will describe and explain various fundamental medicinal chemistry principles used to generate leads and optimize their pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, metabolic, and toxicological profiles in the pursuit of drug candidates, along with case studies.
