Transition metal-catalyzed transformations of alkynes
Catalysis research has been instrumental in the development of new organic reactions that offer improved efficiency, selectivity, and flexibility in manipulation of organic compounds. This research has also led to a better fundamental understanding of chemical reactivity that drives
continued progress in reaction development. In this seminar, I will highlight new catalytic transformations of alkynes that our group has
developed, along with the mechanistic insights this work has produced. Several methods for hydrofunctionalization of alkynes will be
introduced through a discussion of the shared hydrometallation mechanism and unique mechanistic aspects of each transformation.
Additional strategies for transforming alkynes that expand or complement the hydrometallation approach will also be
introduced.
