Nanobioelectronics: Plug in your Brain

Nature Nanotechnology selected the Lieber Group's recent publication in Nano Letters as one of their September 2017 Research Highlights. The paper, titled "Syringe-Injectable Electronics with a Plug-and-Play Input/Output Interface," reports a new development in syringe-injectable mesh electronics. Mesh electronics, valuable tools for brain science and prosthetics, integrate seamlessly with neural tissues. And yet, the tool's impressive flexibility and tissue-like qualities presented a challenge: these same properties impeded connection between the mesh electronics and measurement electronics.

Here, the Lieber Group presents a solution: a "new syringe-injectable mesh electronics design with plug-and-play I/O interfacing that is rapid, scalable, and user-friendly to nonexperts."
